Third Eye Capital is a leading special situations investor that provides innovative financing to promising companies that are often misunderstood or in out-of-favor industries. Through extensive due diligence and rigorous analysis, the firm has a long track record of successfully identifying companies with compelling stories and valuable assets that other investors ignore or lack the expertise or willingness to analyze. Third Eye Capital has committed more than $500 million to private financing transactions across a wide array of industries including energy, alternative energy, mining, technology, media, healthcare, construction services, and financials. The firm was founded in 2005 by renowned entrepreneurs and private investors Arif N. Bhalwani and Dr. David G. Alexander. Together with an expert team of investment and credit professionals, they have led Third Eye Capital to consistent investment outperformance. Third Eye Capital is headquartered in Toronto, Canada.
Arif Bhalwani is currently the CEO of Third Eye Capital (TEC), an alternative credit provider which he co-founded in 2005. TEC provides capital and strategic guidance to asset-rich companies undergoing change or transition. Through its unique combination of tailored financing and value-added business expertise, TEC empowers talented management teams to seize opportunities and realize growth potential more quickly and effectively.
While traditional credit providers may avoid or lack the expertise to deal with uncertainty, distress, timing, complexity or other perceived risks, TEC has an extensive track record of identifying and helping unlock value where other investors refused or neglected to go. TEC has made more than $4.8 billion in investments across a diverse set of industries, including technology, sustainability, traditional and alternative energy, mining, construction services, transportation, and healthcare.
Before founding TEC, Arif led and co-founded the Canadian unit of an early-stage and specialty venture capital firm based in California. Before that, he was a major shareholder and director of a large, distressed Canadian construction contractor that he helped turnaround. In addition, he has founded, managed and sold companies in the retail, automotive and computer services industries.
Arif is a director of the Bhalwani Family Charitable Foundation, which was formed to invest in human potential and the improvement of quality of life for children, immigrants, and marginalized communities. Arif also serves as a director and advisor to several emerging growth companies and industry associations, including the Commercial Secured Finance Network. He is a member of the CFA Institute, the Canadian Venture Capital and Private Equity Association, the Association for Corporate Growth, the Alternative Credit Council, and the Turnaround Management Association. Arif earned a Master of Business Administration from the Smith School of Business at Queen’s University (formerly, Queen’s School of Business), completed post-graduate work at Harvard Business School, and is a CFA Charterholder.
